These Streets is an outstanding debut album from singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini.
The 18-year-old from Paisley, Scotland, sings with a slight accent, which makes him refreshingly different. His unique voice belies his age.
In May 2005, shortly after his 18th birthday, Nutini signed up with record label Atlantic Records. He recorded this 10-track album with producer Ken Nelson (best known for his work on three Coldplay albums). It was released in mid-July and shot to number three on the British album charts, selling 100,000 copies in less than two weeks.
The lively New Shoes and the moving Loving You are standout tracks. The former is a light-hearted song with a country sound that will lift your spirits and get you jumping out of bed in the morning. The latter is a beautiful song with poetic lyrics.
This is one of those rare albums that can be played from start to finish without having to skip any songs.
