Court orders Latin instructors to refund cash paid for cancelled lessons
A court has ordered the former Latin dance teachers of wealthy HSBC banker Mimi Monica Wong to refund her HK$62 million in prepaid fees for lessons she will never take.
The ruling came at the end of a sensational case in which Ms Wong, 61, told how she parted company with celebrity teachers Mirko Saccani and his wife, Gaynor Fairweather, after Mr Saccani loudly abused her at public dance sessions.
Court of First Instance Deputy Judge Gerard Muttrie ruled Mr Saccani had breached the 'mutual trust and confidence' of their agreement by the way he treated Ms Wong.
Ms Wong said she was pleased with the result, which she described as 'a matter of principle' and insisted the row had not dimmed her love of dancing. 'It's my passion. I will continue to dance and compete for as long as possible,' she said outside The Albany, the luxury Mid-Levels apartment block where she lives.
Mr Saccani refused to comment.
