Love them or loathe them, beanbags are icons of pop culture and deserve a place in design history. Symbolising informality, they were conceived to move with the body, although, as anyone who has sat in one will know, getting upright again can be a trial. An improvement on the original 1969 beanbag is the Chairbag, created by Netherlands-based outfit PS Lab. Featuring small feet that should stop bodies sinking into the soft underbelly, the PVC beanbag-cum-chair is also water resistant, so can be used outdoors. The Chairbag is available in red, white, blue, silver and black and costs Euro169 (HK$1,690; plus Euro30 for shipping to Hong Kong) through www.pslab.nl.
