Ladies and gentlemen, the public relations genius award goes to ... Antony Lo Hong-sui and his law hounds. On Thursday, distinguished entrepreneur and Great Eagle Holdings founder Lo Ying-shek was laid to rest. The day before, Antony, his eldest son, filed a libel and injunction writ against Next magazine for an unflattering article about the elder Lo that appeared on September 7. Because of a day lag at the High Court, the list of new writs, which court reporters check every morning, includes only those filed the day before. By filing on Wednesday, Antony's writ appeared on the day of his father's funeral, thus guaranteeing newspapers would focus on the lawsuit and the magazine article. The funny thing is, when the Post first broke the news of Lo's death, an executive close to Great Eagle told us to check an earlier Next edition for his business history.
