Love Phobia is an inspiring romantic drama about the power of love and belief.
Gang Hye-jung plays Ari, a strange girl who claims to be a cursed alien from outer space. Her admirer is Jo Kang, a young man (played by heart-throb Cho Seung-woo) who has loved her ever since he met her as a child.
The pair would make a perfect couple. But Ari insists that her curse will spread to anyone close to her. She mysteriously disappears whenever their relationship is about to blossom.
Many years pass, and Ari and Jo Kang meet one last time. Although Jo Kang is determined to establish a long-term relationship with Ari, she says a spaceship is coming to bring her home. Is Ari lying or is she really an alien from a far-off planet?
As an experienced actress, Gang delivers a touching and believable performance that will bring tears to your eyes. Cho displays less intensity and variety as an actor, but his handsome face makes up for his inexperience.
Like most Korean romances, Love Phobia ends with a tear-drenched finale. But the film sustains a bitter-sweet tone and manages to teach us a meaningful lesson about life and love: to believe is to love, and to love is to be human.
