Gang steals HK$7m in computer monitors
Robbers stole more than HK$7 million worth of computer equipment from a Sheung Shui warehouse yesterday. Several robbers wearing baseball caps broke into the warehouse in Sha Tau Kok Road and tied up three workers, loaded nearly 10,000 computer monitors into four vans and fled. Police were alerted by a worker who found the lock broken when he arrived at 9am.
Mystery boy in hospital after hit and run
Police are appealing for information on a traffic accident in Sha Tin which left a boy seriously injured. A South Asian boy about 12 was hit by a van while crossing the road at the corner of Yuen Wo Road and Tak Hau Street. He suffered head injuries and was sent to Prince of Wales Hospital, where he was in serious condition. The boy, who was alone and without ID, was wearing a yellow T-shirt with black stripes and jeans.
man arrested after trees cut down
Police have arrested a 27-year-old man for illegally chopping down trees in Ma On Shan. A police team searching for illegal immigrants in the area spotted the man, surnamed Yim, and another man chopping down the trees. Yim, who was in Hong Kong on a two-way visa, was arrested but the other man escaped. Yim was arrested on charges of criminal damage.
