Hong Kong proves its metal
Hardly a week goes by when an established rock band gives Hong Kong a miss and heads straight to Tokyo or Singapore, so Outtakes finds it hard to believe that there's a market here for ageing metalheads. There must be, however, because 'shredder' guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen (right) is appearing later this year.
Malmsteen has been travelling the globe on his suitably named Unleash the Fury World Tour since last year. He'll be performing at Hitec in Kowloon Bay at 8pm on November 25. Tickets are HK$580 and HK$780 and are available through HK Ticketing, Tom Lee and the Fringe Club.
DJs from Down Under
Mention Australian music and most people will probably think of Men At Work and Kylie Minogue, but the land down under has a thriving electronic music scene and a number of quality DJs who are gaining global attention.
One of the nation's best-known DJ exports is Melbourne native Phil K (aka Phil Krokidis), who has appeared at some of the world's top nightclubs, alongside leading lights such as Dave Seaman, Sasha and James Zabiela.
