Interior designer After working for architect and designer Steve Leung, Kit Law set up One Plus Partnership with his partner, Virginia Lung, three years ago. A firm believer in originality, he compares interior design to making a good movie. 'With every design you have to give the audience a surprise. That's my philosophy.' Favourite furniture/ homeware shop 'Dentro [Shop 4, Tai Sang Commercial Building, 24-34 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, tel: 2866 8829], which has stylish Italian furniture, and Lane Crawford because of its elegant designs. But I prefer shopping abroad at places like Habitat and B&B Italia in Europe. They have the latest design products. Hong Kong is always slower.' Favourite design magazines 'Architectural Record [ www.archrecord.construction . com] and The Architectural Review [ www.arplus.com/home.htm ] specialise in great architecture. Frame [ www.framemag.com ] features highly creative and playful designs. GA Document [ www.ga-ada.co.jp ] has a lot of Japanese elements.' Favourite item at home 'A telephone I bought for only HK$400 from a small shop in Rome. It was designed by Jacob Jensen [ www.jacob-jensen.com ]. It's super slim and looks cool.' Design no-no 'To plagiarise - it's immoral and shows a complete lack of respect for the designer. If one wants to adopt someone else's design, one should transform it into something new with a different character by adding original concepts.' Where to find inspiration 'Inspirations are omnipresent. Interior design is closely linked to our daily life. Everywhere you go - back streets and small shops, for example - there's life.' What's on top of your wish list 'An iMac because it's so beautiful. I don't know how else to put it.'
