A lecture at Chinese University by Professor Louis Ignarro, the 1998 Nobel Laureate who discovered that nitric oxide stimulates penile erection, paving the way for the drug Viagra, enjoyed a mass audience this week. It was beamed live into secondary schools and to other local and 15 mainland universities. He was also made an honorary professor of medicine at CUHK.
BaptistU gets down to basics
Hong Kong Baptist University has published a book on early and basic education to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The book includes eight articles by the university's graduates, as well as material covered during a conference on basic and language education held late last year.
OpenU co-operates on nursing
Open University has signed an agreement with Baptist Hospital to co-operate in training nurses. Undergraduates will go to the hospital for their practicums and some courses will be taught by nursing teachers of the hospital.
