A woman who lied about her qualifications to get a job as a personal assistant to the chairman of Sa Sa International Holdings is fighting deportation on grounds that she is a 'threat to law and order'.

In an application for judicial review filed on Friday, Pauline Ang Su-wen asked the Court of First Instance to suspend or overturn an Immigration Department decision to deport her at short notice.

Ms Ang is a Singaporean, but is married to permanent Hong Kong citizen Ian Huang Yuan-yuan, 56. She claims the decision is unreasonable and a breach of her right to justice as she had not been allowed to comment on the case against her staying in Hong Kong.

The decision had been taken before an appeal against her conviction and sentence had been heard, and was taken at a time when her husband was in prison and unable to provide supporting documentation for her application for dependant spouse status.

Ms Ang was convicted last October on a count of obtaining financial gain by deception for falsely telling her employer, Sa Sa Cosmetic Company, that she had a bachelor's degree from the National University of Singapore and had studied at the University of California.

She was sentenced to a year in prison, a portion of which was remitted for good behaviour.
