Three wins at the first two Sha Tin meetings of the season have seen an escalation in the demand for the services of apprentice Terry Wong Chi-wai, with the seven-pound claimer booked to ride four overnight favourites on today's 10-race mixed card.

Not surprisingly, three of Wong's mounts are for his master, Dennis Yip Chor-hong, and include brilliant last-start winner Down Town ($30) in the final event, the Changchun Handicap.

The youngster will also hold the reins on smart middle-distance galloper Time Supreme ($35 favourite), who resumes in the second event, and Jiang Jun ($27 favourite) in the day's main event, the Chinese Recreation Club Challenge Cup over 1,000 metres (race nine).

Trainer David Oughton supplies Wong's other well-fancied mount, noted all-weather track speedster Kimbo Kid ($33 favourite) in the seventh event, the Haikou Handicap over 1,200m.

Wong and Yip have begun the new term with all guns firing and Down Town, in particular, could not have been more impressive with his first-up victory on opening day, September 10.

The grey son of Scenic sat off a fast tempo and bolted to the front on straightening, quickly setting up a gap between himself and his rivals and stopping the clock in the every fast time of 1:08.5 - a new class record.
