At the age of just 16, Indrayudh Shome persuaded his favourite band, psychedelic rockers The Brian Jonestown Massacre, to sign up to his record label. A year later, he has a number of overseas and local bands on his distribution list.
Indrayudh, whose friends call him Indy, set up his own record label Concrete Lo Fi Records last year. The company distributes and produces alternative/ psychedelic rock albums.
'There are some overseas bands I really like, but their CDs are not available in Hong Kong.
'I figured there are enough people interested in exploring the music I like - so I started thinking how I could bring the CDs here,' said the 17-year-old Hong Kong International School student.
Indy found the e-mail address of lead singer Anton Newcombe on the The Brian Jonestown Massacre website. He asked if Newcombe would let him distribute the band's earlier albums in Hong Kong.
Indy said his e-mail was straightforward. He wrote, 'I'm just a kid. I won't lie to you. I'm 16. If you trust me, give me your music and I'll put it out here.'
