Dye, 40, suffered severe bleeding on the brain, a broken back and other injuries, after his mount, Ambitious Marju, suffered an ugly fall on June 25. But he defied specialists' forecasts, discharging himself from hospital just three weeks after surgery. Yesterday was his first race meeting since the fall.
