FROM FUNCTIONAL fabrics to apparel trends, Interstoff Asia's series of 10 seminars gives trade professionals an opportunity to expand their knowledge of global apparel and textile trends. With the increasing popularity of sportswear, functional textiles are growing in demand. Justin Huang, secretary general of the Taiwan Textile Federation, will give a talk about functional textiles as a core value for fashion and sportswear brands next Thursday. Natural raw materials are the focus of a seminar led by Lenzing of Austria, also on Thursday. And Geoff Collins, head of business innovation at Lenzing, will introduce the firm's latest renewable, sustainable fibres, which are recognised by many environmental credentials, including the EU Eco-Label. Apparel trends will be discussed in three separate seminars next Friday. Here & There Fall/Winter 2007-08 trend forecast will provide a conceptual overview, while the Fall/Winter 2007-08 trends for womenswear seminar will examine key trends, colours and fabrics in this important segment. A presentation by Martin Lehec of Cailin International, Hong Kong, on the fabrics, silhouettes, concepts, products and accessories for menswear and baby/childrenswear will be the vehicle for examining the coming season's fashion direction for these two markets.
