The deck, which will open in 2010, will be the only tourist site of its kind in Hong Kong, providing views that rival those from The Peak.

Sun Hung Kai Properties will manage the facilities and aims to have six to eight restaurants on the two dining floors.

Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency deputy general manager - leasing, K.W Lo, said: 'The key consideration is to bring a new experience to tourists and locals. We see a selling point and business opportunity to attract both. The restaurants will give plenty of choices to those working in the building, in addition to the restaurants offered by the hotel and the shopping mall.'

The number of visitors to the observation deck is expected to top 1 million a year. Sun Hung Kai will ensure that the flow of human traffic to the tower will cause minimum disturbance to office floors.

There will be a separate waiting lobby for the lift ride up to the deck, with entertainment provided while visitors stand in queues. Tickets will be time-specific so that people will not have to queue for long.
