THE territory's two representatives were knocked out in the first round of the Asian University Championships at the Hong Kong Sports Institute yesterday. Cheng Wing-kay lost 6-0, 6-2 to Taiwan's Hung Chiao-hsy, who went on to lose his second-round match in three sets to South Korean Yoon Jong-woong. Hong Kong's other player, Tsui Shun-leung, put up a better fight against Malaysian Ahmad Ramli, but still fell 7-5, 6-4. Ramli was also eventually bundled out after being blanked 6-0, 6-0 by South Korea Chung Jong-sam. But the tournament is not over for the Hong Kong players as Cheng and Tsui team up for the doubles event, where they face top seeds Yoon and Chung in the second round after receiving a first-round bye.
