Respect from the top
Deputy Police Commissioner Tang King-shing consoles Teresa Fung So Mee-may, the widow of the force's former head of anti-triad operations Stephen Fung Kin-man, as they and hundreds of police officers pay their respects at the Universal Funeral Parlour in Hung Hom.
Police Commissioner Dick Lee Ming-kwai and deputy Gordon Fung Siu-yuen also attended the ceremony for Fung, who leapt to his death from a public housing estate this month. Mr Lee offered words of condolence to Ms Fung, a senior police officer herself, and her family.
Other high-ranking officers present included Kowloon West regional commander Victor Lo Yik-yee and Yau Tsim district commander Kevin Woods, while Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee Siu-kwong and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation sent wreaths.
A photo of Fung wearing a dark suit and yellow tie was flanked by white flowers. In front was a heart-shaped wreath from Ms Fung, and on both sides flower baskets from their two grown children.
Fung, 49, was found lying outside Kai Lim House in Cho Yiu Estate, Kwai Chung, at about noon on September 8. He was declared dead at the scene. He was head of the Organised Crime and Triad Bureau from February 2003 to last September.
