Tie, who finished first in the group stage, had no difficulty in disposing of the 17-year-old leading Japanese player in straight sets 11-6, 11-5, 12-10, 11-8.

The number three seed will now meet Guo Yan of China in the semi-final today. The latter ousted compatriot Li Xiaoxia 4-1 in another quarter-final match yesterday.

The other semi-final will see world number one Zhang Yining of China meet Singaporean Li Jia Wei.

Tie has been in tremendous form this year, winning two singles titles on the pro tour. She also steered Hong Kong to second place in the world team championship in Germany in May.
