Elvis impersonator Rudy Souza, 52, has been leaving audiences in Macau and Hong Kong all shook up for eight years, and is now doing performances on the mainland. He explains why the passion for Presley's music is so strong 29 years after his death.
I'm a very shy person by nature, but when I'm on stage being Elvis I feel different. It's because of his look, his voice, the way he moves and because of the jumpsuits. When I perform, I feel as if I really am Elvis Presley.
I have Elvis jumpsuits in orange, white, black and yellow. I have them made in a small tailor's shop in Bangkok where I go every year for a convention of Elvis impersonators.
If you're not wearing the jumpsuit you don't feel like Elvis. When I have it on I feel good, and when people enjoy watching me I feel even better.
When I perform there are always a lot of girls. Where Elvis goes there are always girls.
I don't practise too much these days. But when I have a function coming up I try to restrain myself because I'm afraid I will disappoint the crowd. I make sure I go to sleep early the night before.
People book me because they love Elvis. I've performed in Hong Kong and I've started doing some shows in Zhuhai . My home is in Macau and I used to sing in a bar there every weekend. After I stopped singing, people kept coming back, even two years later, and asking 'Where is Elvis?'
