Students are encouraged to design environmentally-friendly robots that can help enhance the quality of life. Co-organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education and GP Batteries, the competition is open to Primary Four to Form Seven students. Interested students can form teams of two to four members. There are two categories - Creative and Conventional. The Creative category is divided into two divisions - Green Drama and Green Lifestyle Creative. The Green Drama section, open for Primary Four to Form Three students, requires teams to illustrate environmental protection under a chosen theme, using well-co-ordinated robotic movements and dance. The Green Lifestyle division, opento Form One to Form Seven students, requires teams to create robots or devices that can add value to daily life. Participants in the Green All Terrain Logistics Partner division of the Conventional category have to develop robots equipped with accessories made from recyclable materials. The robots will need to transport as many rechargeable batteries as they can. Their tasks also include overcoming obstacles and switching off unnecessary lights on a designated course. Students can attend seminars on robot making. For more details, visit http://gprobot.vtc.edu.hk or call 8201 1911. The deadline for applications is October 31.
