OVER THE PAST six years, Frankie Lo Chak-tung has spent at least 30 minutes every day on a Kumon worksheet. When he was studying English, his tasks included reading articles, writing essays and answers and listening to English CDs. The 30 minutes were part of the day's routine.

Frankie completed the Kumon English Reading Programme in June.

'Kumon is totally part of my daily life, like sleeping and eating,' said the Form Five student. 'Of course there are times when I am not in the mood and don't feel like doing Kumon. On such days I take a break, wash my face, drink some water - and then take out the worksheets.'

Frankie said the Kumon programme had made a 'tremendous difference' to his standard of English.

'I am one of the best students in English in my class,' he said with pride. 'Six years of daily training has helped me to read faster and build up a vocabulary that's above the average for students my age. I have the confidence to hope for an A in HKCEE English.'

When Frankie completed the English Reading Programme four months ago, he felt a vacuum in his daily life that had to be filled fast, so he started on the Kumon Mathematics programme.

What he likes most about the Kumon system is the flexibility. He is free to set his goals and decide how many worksheets to do a week, under his instructor's guidance.
