Baptist sets up holistic centre Hong Kong Baptist University has set up the Centre for Holistic Teaching and Learning to co-ordinate whole person education across the university as part of its general education programme. It has also received HK$10 million from the Fung Hon Chu Foundation to set up a chair of 'humanics' for the new centre. Humanics aims to educate the spirit, mind and body for leadership in service to others. Marathon programme's trial run One hundred primary and secondary schools will be the first to trial a new education programme linked to the Hong Kong marathon. The Marathon 101 programme, supported by the Education and Manpower Bureau, includes school packs for teachers to use in subjects such as physical education, geography, art and English. It also includes a community service component where secondary students will be trained to work as volunteers on marathon day. Outstanding PolyU alumni award Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations are seeking nominations for the biennial Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award. Nominations close on January 12 next year. Lingnan invites local artist Lam Lingnan University has invited local artist Lam Tung-pang to be the first artist-in-residence for three months under its visual studies artist-in-residence programme. Lam was the first Chinese to win the Hunting Art Prizes Young Artist of the Year award in Britain last year. Computer room named after Tsui The Hong Kong Institute of Education has named a computer room in honour of Tsui Ping-kwong, Shing Hing Industrial president, after he donated HK$150,000 to support business studies students. The donation will be used to set up the Tsui Ping Kwong Bursaries to encourage students to pursue excellence in business education and leadership. School environmental awards Baptist Rainbow Primary School and S.K.H. Lui Ming Choi Memorial Primary School (AM) won special awards at the Schools Environmental Award Scheme, an annual competition organised by the Environmental Campaign Committee, the Environmental Protection Department and the EMB to raise environmental awareness among students.
