A family of three appeared in Eastern Court yesterday accused of stealing 10 mooncakes and other baked snacks at an upmarket Central shopping mall last month.

Father Roland Chan Man-sang, 57, mother Jannie Ng Siu-han, 54, and daughter Tsarina Chan Tuck-wing, 24, jointly faced a theft charge. The trio entered no plea.

The prosecution alleged that on September 30 the trio stole HK$569.70 worth of baked goods from the Kee Wah Bakery shop at International Financial Centre in Central.

They allegedly took 10 mooncakes, totalling HK$520.50, that were the traditional type containing lotus seed paste with double salty egg yolks. The other stolen baked goods included six cakes costing HK$27, three barbecue pork buns costing HK$15.50, one condensed milk bun at HK$5.50 and sweets worth HK$1.20.

Magistrate David Thomas adjourned the case to October 20, after defence lawyer Adrian Yeung asked for more time to consult and advise his clients on their pleas.
