Far too noisy

DR Robert Thio (South China Morning Post, December 3) noted that many Filipinos speak loudly among themselves. I agree with him. I had, in the past, seldom come across such behaviour. However, recently, while travelling on the MTR, I have noticed the loudness of some of my fellow Filipino travellers.

I feel that this kind of behaviour does generate resentment among other people. As a Filipino I have felt embarrassed by this kind of behaviour.

In general, Filipinos are very hard-working people. They should also be able to demonstrate their civility and respect for other people, especially when overseas. And they should act with modesty and refinement.

I hope that other Filipinos who have occasion to read this will show self-restraint. We as Filipinos, should always act with pride, but always know our place.
