Q What should police do about the dog killer?
Although I am not a dog poisoner, I can understand the poisoner's frustration. I have been scared by unleashed dogs on two separate nights while walking by myself on Bowen Road. In neither incident did I provoke the dogs as I was walking by.
In one incident, three unleashed dogs dashed towards me from a distance and surrounded me, barking furiously. I was quite far away from the dogs when they ran towards me. I was dumbfounded and I stood there until a domestic helper walked up and called them off.
In the other incident, one unleashed dog was involved. It also ran towards me and barked at me. Again, I didn't do anything to provoke the dog.
In daytime, it's not uncommon to see huge, unleashed dogs roaming Bowen Road. Although they may not attack people, they are scary because of their size, particularly to children, to say nothing of the fact that they block the road.
While I don't like to hear about dogs being poisoned, I appeal to dog owners to show concern for pedestrians. I think police should warn inconsiderate dog owners and take enforcement action.
Could the government or police officials also inform the public how often inconsiderate dog owners or handlers are warned or prosecuted?
