seafood supplier ordered to halt oyster deliveries
The Centre for Food Safety ordered a seafood supplier in Quarry Bay not to distribute raw oysters after suspected food poisoning cases. A total of 33 people fell ill after consuming raw oysters provided by the supplier in several eateries. Meanwhile, a centre spokesman said an eel product sample taken from Ichiban Pacific (HK) had malachite green at a level of 3,300 parts per billion. About 1,050kg of eel products were seized from the firm's Tsuen Wan premises.
13 diners treated for suspected food poisoning
Thirteen people fell ill with suspected food poisoning after eating in a Shau Kei Wan restaurant. The five men and eight women had diarrhoea, abdominal pain, vomiting and fever after eating in the restaurant between last Thursday and Saturday. One person was in stable condition at Pamela Youde Nethersole Hospital and the rest were discharged.
two arrested, others hunted after gun seizure
Two men, aged 36 and 42, have been arrested and others are being hunted after police seized a handgun and seven rounds of ammunition. The gun and ammunition were found inside a bag left on the canopy of a 14th-floor flat of Flower Villa in Flower Market Street, Mong Kok, at 12.40am on Tuesday. The pair have been released on bail.
