A beautiful 72-year-old Rolls-Royce and a cavalcade of classics rolled back the years at the Collectors Car Club's Mid-Autumn Festival charity lunch for 600 oldies in Kowloon last Saturday. 'Among the [club members'] Mercedes-Benzes, Ferraris and Porsches on display was a rare 1934 Rolls Royce 20/25 H.P. Sedanca de Ville, [coachbuilt] by Gurney Nutting [of Croydon], painted in period two-tone dark green and black, and recently imported from Britain,' says club spokesman Connie Lau.

The event at the Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Welfare Association's premises 'provided a perfect opportunity for the senior citizens to meet with those collectors' cars that could bring back some of the sweet memories of their youth years.' Quite so. Old cars can take you back in time: we'd pogo uncontrollably at the sight of a black-bumpered 1977 MG Midget.

We look forward to taking a closer look at the Sedanca De Ville at a future Collectors event, or even the Classic Car Club Concours d'Elegance on Chater Road, on October 29.

Twenty-six Mercedes-Benz Club members brought a new shine to their 25 cars at a recent Meguiar's Car Care Clinic and brunch at the Hong Kong Clearwater Bay Country Club, says Meguiar International managing director Tom Muldowney.

The clinic began at 9.30am with a 20-minute outdoor classroom session on paint care: how to wash a vehicle, remove bonded contaminants and light scratches, and protect paint.

This sounds basic stuff, but too many cars are damaged when they're cleaned, says Muldowney.
