The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) has launched a programme to help secondary school students develop their financial skills.
The HSBC Living Finance programme consists of eight financial literacy workshops as well as a website aimed at giving the public a better understanding of money matters. Developed by the bank's staff, the workshops will be conducted once a month on a Saturday afternoon at one of the bank's branches.
They will cover basic credit and money-management principles, insurance and investment planning.
A group of students from Stewards MKMCF Ma Ko Pan Memorial College will take part in the first workshop this weekend.
Teresa Au, regional head of services and sales (personal financial services) at HSBC, said: 'Financial literacy is a vital life skill that empowers people and improves their quality of life. It is also fundamental to the development and prosperity of every country.'
