Maverick legislator 'Long Hair' Leung Kwok-hung was arrested last night by officers from the Office of the Telecommunications Authority in the middle of a Citizens' Radio broadcast.

The move by Ofta came just five days after it mounted an operation against Citizens' Radio for suspected use of unlicensed radio transmitters and seized equipment from a Chai Wan industrial building.

Before the arrest, Democratic Party chairman Lee Wing-tat made a brief appearance in support of the station's broadcasting.

'Digital broadcasting is now in the experimental stage. I hope in the future it can be made more accessible,' Mr Lee said.

The underground station last night began broadcasting at 7pm on FM 102.8MHz from the pavement in Queen's Road East, outside Ofta's headquarters in Wu Chung House, Wan Chai.

Ofta officers, including one with a video camera, were on standby from the first-floor podium overlooking the pavement where the broadcast was taking place.
