The annual Innovation Festival, designed to arouse young people's interest in innovation and technology, has begun. Organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) and supported by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG), this year's festival carries the theme 'Youth Inspires ... City of Innovation'. The Hong Kong Youth Innovation Club has been set up in conjunction with the festival. Club members are secondary school or tertiary institute students who have previously won contests for innovation and technological inventions. Regular activities, such as visits to research institutes and meetings with scientists, will be arranged for members. A junior fellowship programme and a research experience programme for talented students have also been launched. Students will get research experience at the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute, as well as the Nano and Advanced Materials Institute. The festival also features 'My Favourite Inventions for Quality Living Competition 2006', a series of interactive workshops and the Youth Innovation Exhibition.
