A 12-year-old girl was fighting for her life in hospital last night after being knocked down by a minibus in Wong Tai Sin.

The Form One student at Mongkok Workers' Children School in Ho Man Tin was crossing Po Kong Village Road when she was hit at about 7.25am. Police said she suffered head and neck injuries. She was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where she was listed as in a critical condition. Police said her 13-year-old sister told them the girl had not checked traffic before she dashed across the road. The minibus driver, 62, passed an alcohol breath test with zero reading and tests showed he had not been speeding.

In a separate case, a woman was sent unconscious to Princess Margaret Hospital after being knocked down by a taxi in Wing Shun Street, Tsuen Wan, at about 3.40pm.
