Yak on the menu for games visitors
Nearly 100 dishes from all over China will represent the nation's celebrated cuisine at the Beijing Games. Yak steak, malan noodles, and a popular mushroom soup are among the less well known dishes put forward for a special Olympic menu by the China Cuisine Association. The CCA said the dishes would be suitable for athletes, officials, journalists and spectators. The association will make its recommendations to the games' organiser, Bocog.
Bocog chief demands action over pollution
Bocog head and Bejing Mayor Liu Qi called for more action to tackle the capital's appalling air pollution before the games. He told the Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau that a programme of environmental protection was urgently needed to create a 'livable city, and stage a high-level Olympics'. 'This will help to showcase a good image of the city and the nation,' he said.
