Hong Kong will hope old-timer Rahul Sharma can put their ACC Premier League campaign, now teetering out of control, back on track when they meet Malaysia next weekend in Singapore.

Playing two matches in the five-nation tournament [played on a three-day format] and tumbling to heavy defeats - to Singapore (by 158 runs) and Nepal (165 runs) - has brought Hong Kong back to earth after the highs of this summer's success at the ACC Trophy in Kuala Lumpur.

Once again, all hopes will rest on ACC Trophy hero Sharma, 46, to salvage the lacklustre campaign. Sharma, who missed both opening games due to work commitments, will boost the batting line-up which will also see the return of Tabarak Dar and Khalid Khan.

Dar's presence will hopefully strengthen the brittle top order. Left-arm medium-pacer Khalid Khan, who has hit a purple patch in the local Sunday League taking 18 wickets in three games, could cause headaches for the opposition if he can continue in this form.

'We need to defeat Malaysia, otherwise we are in real danger of finishing at the bottom of the competition,' said Lal Jayasinghe, Hong Kong's assistant coach.

Zain Abbas will be the only new face in the 14-strong squad for the November 3-5 match.
