We know Hongkongers like to pig out, but this is ridiculous. For its 50th anniversary, the Maxim's restaurant group is holding a marathon four days of banquets as a treat to its 12,800 staff serving at the group's dim sum palaces, cake shops, Genki Sushi outlets, M.A.X. Concept eateries and its chain of Starbucks stores. The celebrations started yesterday and will continue until Thursday. The still privately owned company will serve 15 banquets for about 800 people each session. The highlight will be an attempt to break the world record for the largest buffet. Maxim's Palace Chinese Restaurant in the Grand Century Place mall will host a spread of 560 dishes to challenge the current record of 510 dishes at lunch time on Thursday. We're full just thinking about it.
