THE high-flying acrobatics of Trapeze (Pearl, 9.30pm, Original Running Time 105 mins) come to the small screen tonight, bringing all the thrills and spills of the circus into the living rooms.
Starring Tony Curtis, Burt Lancaster and Gina Lollobrigida, this is a gripping and occasionally witty film about an ageing trapeze artist who takes on a protege and, in turn, lands himself in the middle of a nasty love triangle.
Great stunts, good acting and script make this 1956 film one of the better pictures to watch over the festive holidays. ONE of the better films among the monotony of Christmas tales that will hit our screens this weekend will be A Christmas Story (World,1.10am. ORT 94 mins).
It's festive time in Cleveland in the early 1940s and nine-year-old Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) is eagerly awaiting the arrival of his special request to Santa - a huge bazooka-style toy gun.
He goes through all sorts of riotous antics to get his hands on the toy and his funny adventures make this film a little different from the rest of the trash shown this time of year.
Despite its fun and family appeal, the film has been given a night-owl time-slot for some strange reason so it may be wise to set the video to give the children a chance to watch it tomorrow. NOT billed as a Christmas miracle type of story but nonetheless along the same lines is tonight's feature on World Chances Are (9.30pm. ORT 108 mins).
This romantic comedy starring Cybill Shepherd, Ryan O'Neal and Robert Downey Jr follows a tangled web of reincarnation and personality change in a story about a woman who remains obsessed with her husband who died in a car crash 25 years before.
