The drums are merely water bottles decorated with paint and paper, but the organisers of a world record attempt hope the message behind their performance will ring true. 'We want to highlight the fact that art can come from everyday life, and that the arts should be accessible to everyone,' said Janet Tam Mei-hin, programme manager for the Arts with the Disabled Association of Hong Kong. More than 100 volunteers yesterday gathered in Tuen Mun to help build the 6,000 drums to be used in December in a Guinness World Records attempt during the International Festival of Inclusive Art. Organisers hope to assemble 11,000 drummers to play a folk song, The Earth Shall Move, and set a record for the most people playing percussion at the same time.
