A LITTLE birdie told us jockey Tony Cruz prefers golf to horse-racing - at least as far as birthday cakes are concerned.

  Tony's wife Paulene reportedly made a request to the team of pastry chefs at the Regent that there be no horses on the cake for his 37th birthday party last night.

  ''Golf is his new passion,'' she said, and asked them to construct a mini 37-hole golf course out of green icing.

  Still, it was hard for Tony to completely forget his foremost sport yesterday evening: the table for 90 guests was in a horseshoe shape.
