Booze was not in short supply last Thursday as yet another champagne house made its claim on a piece of the Hong Kong market. The house of G.H. Mumm, provider of those big bottles for Formula 1 race winners, threw a party and press lunch to introduce itself. With four choices of bubbly to taste - and sitting in the hot sun on Red's outdoor podium - let's just say we felt very light-headed for the rest of the day. But we managed to recall Mumm regional business manager Christophe Regi's (above) optimism about the Asia market. 'Our research on Asia shows Hong Kong is a very busy and blooming market. I think pairing champagne with Asian cuisine absolutely will become a hot trend in the near future. I notice it's been a few years now that red and white wines are more commonly matched with Asian food. But I think champagne could be even trendier in this regard.'
