TINGLE

Why you can trust SCMP

If the slightest hint of a scent in a cosmetic product leaves your skin tingling then you probably have sensitive skin. This skin type is described by Skin Care Guide (a network of dermatology related websites founded by a group of dermatologists) as skin which tingles and easily reacts to products or situations (such as shaving or stress). Redness and recurrent irritation of the skin may be ongoing problems. Sensitive skin is usually prone to dryness. Ruby Wan, assistant director of education at Frederique Academy, says sensitive skin is translucent with a thin texture, which feels tight after cleansing. Medscape, an online site, recommends the use of products which incorporate anti-irritants such as aloe vera (pictured), to soothe skin.
