NEUTRAL
At the polar end of the colour spectrum, makeup this season is neutral. But forget the almost nude shades of previous seasons, which have given way to a new neutral where champagne, mocha, cafe, ginger and gold are just some of the new definitions of nude. Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown are unquestionably the golden girls of natural hues, and this season is no exception. Bobbi Brown has a Gold Collection of sheer products which are designed to be applied with regular makeup colours to create a 'glow from within'. Laura Mercier's Evolution of Colour series takes sheer shades from golden brown to rich chocolate designed to take makeup from day to night with a quick sweep of a brush, all in one neat compact. Metallic taupes and rich cognacs can be found in the Nars collection, but for those who prefer neutral to remain just that, Chanel takes it back to basics. Its Beige Collection is a concentration of pigments which create different levels of beige with hints of pink, rose or gold. Shades are infused with diffuse colours and luminous light, which the brand says creates a rejuvenating, rather than plain effect.
