TWO PRESTIGIOUS international business schools have teamed up to launch a double degree EMBA programme specially designed to meet the needs of managers and executives in the Asia-Pacific region.
INSEAD, which is based in France and Singapore, and Beijing's Tsinghua University have set up the course to give the next generation of business leaders essential insight into the dynamic Chinese market and western mindsets, and management principles.
This combination will prepare students to operate successfully in the international marketplace, understand the effects of accelerated globalisation, and come to grips with rapid advances in technology.
'Each school is providing half of the faculty members for the programme to give a balance of management wisdom from east and west,' said Hu Chao, who is INSEAD's assistant director for the programme in Asia. 'We decided that Tsinghua would be the best partner because it is in a good position to complement us and understand China's growing role in global business. The university's professors will also be able to give different perspectives on the Asian economy.'
Tsinghua has a reputation for training top managers in China and already runs an MBA programme in English with places for international students. Meanwhile, INSEAD has not worked closely with a mainland university on a degree course like this before, but hopes to learn more about business and academia in Northeast Asia and Greater China.
Mr Hu said the collaboration would also create a platform for further research.
