THERE could be real Christmas cheer for the Macau Jockey Club today as a big holiday crowd is expected at Taipa for the 10-event Boxing Day meeting. A turnover of $25 million is on the cards although fields in a couple of today's races have not stood up. Punters will almost certainly be cautious in the very modest Class Six opener where there are only eight facing the starter and the griffin event that follows. But the holiday crowd should loosen their pockets for the rest of the meeting and business will be brisk. Former Queensland champion jockey Neil Williams should land the top-rated race on the programme, the Classes One and Two longer sprint which is the eighth event. He partners All Smart, the only Class One horse in the field, who must defy an impost of 137 pounds and an outside draw (9) in the field of 10. But All Smart is aptly enough named and should be able to concede weight particularly over this sprint trip. However, trainer Henry Lee Hon-ming has called up useful claimer K. S. Tam for speedy Hi Secret and this brings his weight down to 128 pounds which, combined with an inside draw, makes him a definite threat to All Smart. Far East Delight is not the horse he was in the earlier days at Taipa but could be one to toss into the tierce, or even a modest quinella.
