Ella Koon fan to be jailed for stealing kiss
Magistrate describes 'stomach-turning' attack as malicious and well-planned
A fan who admitted forcing a kiss on singer Ella Koon Yun-na out of impulse to express his love for his idol will face a jail sentence for what a judge said was 'premeditated' behaviour, a court heard yesterday.
Tuen Mun Principal Magistrate Kwok Wai-kin described the action of Law Hin-fat, a library assistant, as 'vulgar' and 'stomach-turning'. He rejected arguments that the defendant had suffered psychological problems that led him to use 'a very wrong' means to reveal his feelings on stage in front of an audience.
Law, 24, pleaded guilty yesterday to a charge of indecent assault, reversing a plea he made three weeks ago.
He was remanded in jail custody until November 17 for sentencing, pending psychological and psychiatric reports, as well as probation and community service orders.
He wanted to kiss Koon but was worried she would leave, so he grabbed her neck and kissed her on the lips on October 6 during a Mid-Autumn Festival show at a Gold Coast shopping mall in Tuen Mun.
The principal magistrate said it was a well-planned, malicious attack as Law tricked his way onto the stage with an excuse to express admiration for his idol during an audience game that did not require participation on stage. Law created a distraction and made Koon turn her face to him, the judge said.
