Wushu expert Li Fai (left) takes exercise of the mind and body seriously. The world champion in tai chi and five-time winner of the Hong Kong Sports Star award will lead 100 kindergarten and primary school students today to recite poems from the classical literary period of the Tang dynasty while exercising in various kung fu styles. I'm not joking. In fact, they will perform all these to the drumbeat of traditional Chinese martial music at the event in Southorn Playground as part of the three-day Wan Chai Book Fair. 'Some are my pupils, others have little or no prior training,' said the kung fu master, who is promoting her book and DVD on what may be termed kung fu gymnastics. 'But kids learn fast and they are naturals in multitasking ... The Chinese traditionally have two types of education: the literary for the mandarins and the martial for the soldiers. I want to combine them.' No easy task: performing kung fu and memorising poems in classical Chinese, while being distracted by martial drumming.
