CHINA IS ALREADY the world's predominant manufacturing economy, but it seems the country now also has its sights set on competing with India as a global centre for the outsourcing of IT and software services.
The business is growing fast on the mainland and creating job opportunities in a range of hi-tech areas. As a result, both domestic and international companies running outsourcing operations are looking for well-trained technical staff.
One of them, I.T United, is a China-based provider of software development services for regional and global clients. It handles systems integration, interactive design and the development of applications, as well as being able to manage whole business functions such as technical support help desks or data processing.
To keep pace with rapid expansion, the company is recruiting staff for various positions.
'We currently have openings for project, account and business development managers, and software engineers,' said HR manager Sybil Sun. 'There are also vacancies for experienced art and creative directors for our interactive design team.'
The company is particularly interested in recruiting candidates from Hong Kong who, in many cases, have the twin advantages of cultural affinity with the mainland and international experience.
