smic, cadence to give chip designers cutting edge
Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC), one of the world's leading silicon chip factories, has teamed up with California's Cadence Design Systems on programmes to upgrade the capabilities of China's wireless chip-design sector.
SMIC said its process-design kits, available by the end of this year, will support Cadence's design methodology kits to deliver software tools and techniques for mainland wireless chip designers.
Jan Willis, senior vice-president of industry alliances at Cadence, said the collaboration with SMIC includes offering applicability training and workshops to their mutual customers.
