Teen pop idol Jesse McCartney is back with a follow-up to his well-received debut, Beautiful Soul. The new offerings on Right Where You Want Me show the heartthrob has matured. The album is a collection of upbeat pop/ rock tunes about young love and the desire to grow up.
The album opens with a mainstream pop groove, featuring the young singer's trademark falsetto, which sets the tone and style of the rest of the album.
In Daddy's Little Girl, McCartney tries to shed his goody-goody image by belting out 'You've always followed all the rules ... Have a taste of what it's like to be old enough'.
In Can't Let You Go, he proves he can also sing rock.
But there are some flat moments. For example, Right Back in the Water, Anybody and We Can Go Anywhere, are uninspiring and forgettable pop tunes.
The album also includes a VCD featuring karaoke versions of his hits from Beautiful Soul.
