The Canny Man Wan Chai is not an immediately obvious choice for a quiet drink, but The Canny Man (57-73 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai) bar offers something of a refuge from the hustle and bustle outside. Tucked away in the basement of the Wharney Hotel, the bar avoids the street level chaos of Wan Chai and offers plenty of attractions: 200 malt whiskies, 40 imported beers from Scotland, England and Belgium, a choice of 10 wines by the glass and a further 20 by the bottle. There is also a comprehensive selection of cigars. There is a pool table, darts, board games, a big-screen television and a jukebox with more than 5,000 tracks. The Canny Man also serves as a venue for private parties (such as the forthcoming Ashes Cricket Test), or for the ubiquitous Christmas office gathering.
