THERE could be a surprise coming your way in tonight's fifth event and if Mannidear (Nap) obliges don't say you were not warned. Gary Ng's gelding has only poor form but until now he had not been working well. Recently he has picked up significantly in his work and I expect him to put in a much-improved performance. He actually strikes me as the type to run really well on the equitrack as he is a pretty free-running sort. The booking of Tony Cruz also looks pretty significant. In some ways this is great as Cruz, is as good as any when it comes to riding the equitrack. In another way it is bad as it means Mannidear will not be as generously priced as if someone else was on board. But who cares if he gets the money. As Robert Thompson used to say: ''Half a sausage is better than none!''
