Hong Kong's wushu team have a strong nine-member squad, but coach Yu Liguang foresees a daunting task ahead for his charges following the adoption of a new set of rules for the games.

Introduced by the International Wushu Federation, the new routines require more difficult and complicated movements in the combinations of nanquan, changquan and taiji. Athletes will also find less room for error. 'Our players have been working hard in order to master these difficult movements,' said the coach. 'Following months of long, hard work, most of them are able to finish their combinations, and what we need to do now is to improve the quality of each move.'

Five men and four women will represent Hong Kong in Doha, including East Asian Games gold medal winner To Yu-hang and Angie Tsang.
